So, the surgery is done and I feel great about it. The deal with my surgeon was if it had no effect to exchange the electrode, we did need to do the whole replacement thing, But luckily enough, it had an effect and it has.
So the short-term effects are: better balance, no hurting muscles, and only a slight tremor. One side effect on the negative side is that my speech is slightly slurred. I believe that will pass further down the road, so I’m not worried.
On the 18th of October, the stitches are removed, and on the 27th, the DBS is adjusted and started, at which time I know how much of a problem the speech thing is going to be. It might reside as the new electrode is closer to the speech center.
Need To Heal And Rest
For now, my job is firstly to heal and relax from the procedure. It was more than six hours of brain surgery while I was awake, so it takes time to heal and rest.
